Hungary's retail sales fall 3.9 pct y/y in Dec

BUDAPEST, Feb 24 (Reuters) - Hungary's retail sales fell by an annual 3.9 percent in December based on working day-adjusted figures following a 2 percent decline in November, the Central Statistics Office (KSH) said on Tuesday.

In all of 2008 retail sales fell by 2.1 percent, the KSH added.

According to seasonally and calendar-adjusted data, the volume of retail sales was down by 0.8 percent compared to the previous month, after 0.4 percent monthly fall in November.

Food sales dropped by 1.5 percent in December from a year earlier and fell by 1.2 percent in all of 2008.

Non-food sales were down by 5.6 percent in December and 2.8 percent in all of 2008.
