Topping the list of the Best Countries for Business is Denmark (1), following the USA (2), Canada (3), Singapore (4), New Zealand (5), the United Kingdom (6), Sweden (7), Australia (8), Hong Kong (9) and Norway (10).
The report looks at business conditions in more than 120 economies, and Denmark was strongest in all aspects, with a mix of low inflation and low unemployment, emphasis on entrepreneurship and lower taxes. These qualities combined with high marks for innovation and technological savvy lift Denmark to the top in Forbes’ ranking of Best Countries for Business.
Forbes' Best Countries for Business ranking recognizes the importance of personal freedoms, and includes measures to quantify this such as free and fair elections, as well as legal protection for investors, levels of corruption, stock market performance, intellectual property rights, promotion of free trade, levels of inflation and taxation on income and investment.
EIU backs up
Also, for four years in a row, the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) in the UK has voted Denmark ”the best place in the world to do business” in their annual analysis of the global business climate.
The EIU analysis is based on feedback from approximately 650 analysts and is considered the most in-depth analysis of its kind. The EIU ranks the most efficient countries for companies to conduct business in the next five years. And last year Denmark had improved its leading position, taking first place in seven out of ten categories.
“We are very pleased with the conclusion from both Forbes and the EIU. When such a coveted title is awarded to Denmark year after year, it proves that we can provide exceptional conditions for both companies and employees,” says managing director, Steen Donner at Copenhagen Capacity, the Danish Capital Region´s official inward investment agency.
“Indian companies keen on a European footprint are exploring the exciting options available in Copenhagen, Denmark,” says, Sooraj Dhawan, India Representative, Copenhagen Capacity. “This re-endorsement from Forbes shall help them take decisions on a faster basis,” added, Sooraj Dhawan.
