Fashionistas across the globe fought it out for a week on the Mai Mumbai Designer outfits charity auctions on eBay and the pressure is mounting. 37 outfits from Indian & International designers showcased by Naomi Cambpell and other Indian celebrities at the Mai Mumbai Show at Lakme Fashion Week were put up for auction on eBay India (www.eBay.in). This special charity auction of the Mai Mumbai designer outfits for the benefit of the Mumbai terror attack victims was announced last week by eBay India (www.ebay.in), India’s leading online marketplace, and Lakme Fashion Week.
Some of the most popular designers have been Indian favourites - Anamika Khanna’s calico saree now at Rs. 16,300 and Manish Malhotra’s green saree at Rs.12,900. The current topper is the international style icon – A white dress from Yves Saint Laurent. Currently over 470 bidders from across the world – USA, Germany, Greece, India are in a fierce battle to be the highest bidder and snag the great outfits, watched by thousands of netizens.
In a show of solidarity against the Mumbai terror attacks, acclaimed Indian designers came together, alongside top International designers for the ‘Mai Mumbai’ the Fashion for Relief show on March 28, 2009. The Indian designers whose outfits are being auctioned exclusively on eBay India includes Anamika Khanna, Arjun Khanna, Anand Kabra, Manish Malhotra, Narendra Kumar, Raghavendra Rathore, Nachiket Barve, Milind Soman , Rina Dhaka, Ritu Kumar, Anuj Sharma, Nikasha Tawade, Savio Jon, Varun Bahl and Wendell Rodricks. In addition, outfits from world greats like YSL, Zac Posen, Isaac Mizrahi, Chloe, Donna Karan, Ungaro, Oscar de la Renta, Carolina Herrera, Naam Khan, Vera Wang, Anna Sui, Badgley Mischka, Diane Von Furstenburg and Mathew Williamson. The Mai Mumbai auctions are live on eBay India from March 28 to April 12.
All the donated garments will be auctioned on eBay India (www.ebay.in) with proceeds donated to Citizens for Justice and Peace (CJP), a charitable organized established to promote communal harmony and friendship between the people of India and to fund much needed ambulance services, trauma centers and community hospitals.
