Check-in now just a click away Galileo introduces 'online check-in facility' for seven airlines

Galileo by Travelport, the global technology and distribution partner for the travel and tourism industry, introduces for the first time ever an ‘online check-in’ facility in the GDS sphere, a 24-hour advance web check-in for seven airlines on the single platform. The Online Check-In facility is accessible through Travelport ViewTrip™ for seven carriers- British Airways, Delta Air Lines, Virgin Atlantic, Frontier, Midwest, BMI, and Swiss Air.

This self service feature for the Galileo travelers facilitates the hassle free online check in & ensures comfortable and convenient environment to the air passengers at the airport. The ‘online check-in’ option directly links Travelport’s ViewTrip™ online itinerary users to participating airline’s website passenger and directs the user into the first step of the airline check-in process. Online Check-In Via Travelport ViewTrip™ not only provides easy navigation to the customers but also exempts them from re-entering their travel details on the individual airlines check-in websites as it is automatically done for them once they enter the ViewTrip™ website. The feature is available to all travellers whose itineraries are booked by Galileo travel agencies & offer the ViewTrip™ Web site as a value add-on itinerary service to their clients.

This opens new avenues for all the airlines to provide a common platform of web check-in for their customers. To participate, an airline has to only fill a simple form and not required to develop any software or fulfil any prerequisites. The integration of the respective airline and ViewTrip™ check-in functionality would be taken care by Galileo to facilitate the convenient web check-in process.

Speaking about this new facility, Mr. Bruce Hanna, CEO & President, Galileo in India said “As an active member of the travel industry, we are sensitive towards the problems that our passengers face and thus at Galileo, we constantly endeavour to make travel an experience of luxury and comfort. Our aim of launching this new web check-in service is to offer air travellers a time-saving, hassle free journey. Designed with a user friendly approach, this facility provides easy online navigation to its travellers.”

“This facility will not only ease lengthy check in queue but will also reduce airlines’ staffing costs at airport check-in counters. To enhance customer travel experience, Galileo is in talks with all carriers (including domestic) operating international flights to connect their respective airline check-in facility to ViewTrip™.” Mr. Bruce Hanna added.

The enhanced website available in 23 additional languages, has been redesigned with a number of added amenities like - currency conversion, interactive maps, passport/visa information, travel & health advice, events calendar and weather report. With the revised layout, the passengers are endowed with a clearer presentation of the Itinerary, Electronic Ticket and Electronic Expense Receipt.
